Hello, i’m Vikki
I am an upcycling artist from beautiful Dorset. I create statement décor from things that probably would have ended up in landfill. I combine imagery (the quirkier the better) with wording (sometimes sweary, always empowering) and bright paint colours and bring all of these components together in textured layers. I aim to create the feel of a genuinely aged, bohemian piece that not only recycles but will make you smile every time you look at it.
Tatty to Natty Furniture was founded after I had my first baby. I have always loved rummaging around at auctions and car boot sales and I have a passion for music, literature, art and vintage decor so I started to combine these things in my work. I set up social media and found I had discovered a way to make a living around motherhood.
A shift in my approach occurred during lockdown. I started dismantling pieces that I had in storage to turn into art panels that could be sent through the post. This kept me going when I couldn’t source furniture and is now a mainstay of my work.
After an episode of depression, I started to paint more colourfully, I was drawn to uplifting and empowering wording as an antidote to the way I was feeling. And here is where you find me in my current manifestation.
I want my pieces to make you as happy as it makes me to create them.
