The text reads in the neon orange of the undercoat. Distressed back to the undercoat in some areas to age it and create texture. Finally varnished with a floor varnish to provide a durable finish.

The inside is painted green and the doors latch securely. There are some narrow slots cut in the base of the inside where at one point, partitions would have been but it doesn't affect use.
I have replaced the handles with solid brass pulls salvaged from another piece, with a lovely aged patina.
